Certain trouble areas can be resistant to fat loss even when you exercise and eat right. Body contouring treatments may give you the help you are seeking.

SculpSure

SculpSure is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses laser technology to target and destroy fat cells in specific areas of the body. It is commonly used to reduce stubborn fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks and thighs.  The treatment is FDA-approved and typically takes around 25 minutes per session. It is a popular option for those looking to contour an area to appear more sculpted without surgery.

  • Good candidates for SculpSure are typically individuals who are close to their ideal body weight but have stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is important for candidates to have realistic expectations about the results of the treatment. A consultation will determine if you are a suitable candidate.

  • The number of SculpSure treatments needed can vary depending on individual factors such as the specific areas being treated, the amount of fat present, and the desired results. Typically, to obtain optimal results, a series of 1-3 treatments sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended.

  • During a SculpSure treatment, you can expect to feel a warming sensation as the laser energy targets and heats the fat cells in the treatment area. The procedure typically lasts around 25 minutes per treatment area and is well-tolerated by most patients, although we offer our patients the option of Pronox analgesia (nitrous oxide) to ease any pain and anxiety. After the treatment, you may experience some temporary redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area. It is important to follow post-treatment care instructions for optimal results.

  • Results from SculpSure treatments are typically noticeable within 6-12 weeks following completion of the final procedure. During this time, your body will naturally eliminate the targeted fat cells, leading to a gradual reduction in the treated area's appearance. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a balanced diet to help maximize and maintain your results. Remember that individual results may vary.

Gentlelase Hair Removal

The GentleLase laser hair removal system uses an Alexandrite laser, which is a type of laser that emits a specific wavelength of light that is highly effective for targeting and removing unwanted hair. The Alexandrite laser is known for its precision and ability to safely and efficiently treat a variety of skin types. The GentleLase laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, damaging them and inhibiting future hair growth.

  • Individuals with light to medium skin tones and dark hair are good candidates for GentleLase hair removal. The Alexandrite laser used in GentleLase treatment is most effective at targeting the pigment in dark hair follicles, so those with lighter skin and darker hair tend to see the best results. It is always best to schedule a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for GentleLase hair removal.

  • The number of laser hair removal treatments needed can vary depending on factors such as your skin type, hair color, hair thickness, and the area being treated. Generally, most people require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results and a series of 6-8 treatments spaced several weeks apart is typically recommended in order to target hair follicles in different growth phases and ensure long-lasting hair reduction. However, individual results vary, which may require more or fewer sessions for some patients.

    1. Avoid sun exposure: Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4-6 weeks before your treatment. Sun exposure can make your skin more sensitive to the laser and increase the risk of complications.

    2. Shave the treatment area: Shave the treatment area the day before your initial appointment which will aid the laser in targeting the hair follicles more effectively without singeing the surface hair.

    3. Avoid waxing or plucking: Avoid waxing, plucking, or using depilatory creams on the treatment area for at least 4-6 weeks before your appointment because these methods remove the hair follicle which the laser needs to target during treatment.

    4. Cleanse the skin: Make sure to cleanse the treatment area thoroughly before your appointment to remove any lotions, oils, or makeup. Clean, dry skin allows the laser to penetrate more effectively.

By following these pre-treatment guidelines, you can help ensure a successful and effective laser hair removal session.

Sclero

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat spider veins during which a solution is injected directly into the affected veins, causing them to shrink and eventually fade away.

  • During a sclerotherapy treatment, you can expect a minimally invasive procedure where a solution is injected into the affected veins (spider veins and veins) to help them collapse and eventually fade away.

    1. Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing to your appointment.

    2. Avoid applying lotion or oil to your legs on the day of the treatment.

    3. Inform Dr. Yalowitz about any medications you are currently taking.

While some people may only need one or two treatments, others may require several sessions spread out over a period of time.

Diolite

The Diolite laser is commonly used in dermatology and works by emitting a specified wavelength of light that can target and treat specific skin conditions, including vascular lesions (such as spider veins and cherry angiomas) and pigmented lesions (such as age spots and freckles).  It is a versatile tool that can be used for a range of cosmetic and medical procedures.

  • The duration of a Diolite laser treatment can vary depending on the size of the area being treated and the specific condition being addressed, but typically lasts 30 minutes or less. During the treatment, you can expect to feel a mild sensation of heat or tingling as the laser is applied to the skin. The procedure is generally well-tolerated, but some patients may experience slight discomfort. Following treatment, you may notice some temporary redness or swelling in the treated area, usually for a few hours or up to a few days.

  • The number of Diolite laser treatments needed can vary depending on the specific skin condition being treated, the individual's skin type, and their desired results. In general, multiple sessions are often recommended to achieve optimal results. For conditions like vascular lesions or pigmented lesions, patients may require anywhere from 1 to 3 treatments spaced one month apart.

Kybella

KYBELLA® is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin by physically destroying fat cells. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Fat cleared from the treatment area is processed through your body’s natural metabolism.

  • Each treatment session consists of a series of injections into the fat under your chin during an office visit. Typically, the precise area to be treated is carefully identified and measured and then the area is numbed. The KYBELLA® is then injected.

  • Dr. Yalowitz will determine the number of treatment sessions needed based on the amount and distribution of the patient's submental fat and their personal treatment goals. Up to six treatments may be needed, spaced no less than a month apart, however, many patients are satisfied after just two treatments. Once the aesthetic response is achieved, no further treatment is typically administered.

  • For most patients, downtime occurs most commonly after the first treatment session. You should be able to resume your normal daily activities but are likely to have some swelling, so keep that in mind when scheduling your treatment time. We apply a cold pack to the area after the treatment which helps to decrease the swelling and minimize any discomfort.

  • KYBELLA® can in rare instances cause serious side effects, including nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness and trouble swallowing. These side effects were identified in early studies and the treatment protocol was adjusted to avoid them. The most common side effects include: swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness.
